I would like to bring your attention to four releases by jazz musician Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah.
The first release titled “Stretch Music” (SM) was released in 2015, and the other three “Ruler Rebel” (RR) “Diaspora” (D) & “The Emancipation Procrastination” (TEP) were all released this year as a part of his “ The Centennial Trilogy” & we jazz fanatics are still reeling in gratitude.
On many occasions I have listened to these four albums back to back for their musical themes are shared and continually evolve throughout ones listening experience. For example, “Twin” (SM) which should be the theme song for every block party from now on, is closely mirrored in “Encryption” (RR) not just rhythmically, but with a darker assertion that essentially left me staggered upon initial listenings. Also, the flautist Elena Pinderhughes will literally leave you breathless here and eagerly in wait for her highly anticipated release next year.
If compositions such as “New Orleanian Love Song 1 & 2” (RR) “Our Lady of New Orleans” (D) “Michele With One L” “Unrigging November” (TEP) do not leave you in tears, I am sorry to break it to you, but your Ex was right and you are dead inside.
Do yourself a favour and check out these releases & I recommend purchasing them from Bandcamp, for you can add a gratuity to the price of the albums & also attain a physical copy.
